Terms of Service

Terms of Service

These terms govern the hosted OpenSelf service at openself.dev. They are designed to be readable, explicit about AI-assisted behavior, and consistent with OpenSelf's user-control principles.

Last updated: March 30, 2026

1. Acceptance of these terms

By accessing or using the hosted OpenSelf service at openself.dev, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the hosted service.

OpenSelf may still be in beta or active development. Features can evolve quickly, and some parts of the service may change before general availability.

2. What OpenSelf provides

OpenSelf is an AI-powered personal page builder. You can talk to the product, connect third-party sources, review proposed updates, and publish a living page that reflects your work, interests, and identity over time.

We may add, remove, or modify features in order to improve reliability, safety, legal compliance, or product direction.

3. Accounts and access

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials, and for activity that occurs under your account.

You must be legally able to use the service and to authorize any connector data you choose to link. If we believe an account is being used unlawfully, fraudulently, or abusively, we may suspend or restrict access.

4. Your content and your rights

You retain ownership of the content, personal information, and source material you submit to OpenSelf. This includes conversation inputs, uploaded or connected data, and content you approve for publication.

You grant OpenSelf a limited license to host, process, transform, store, and display that content only as needed to operate the service for you, including generating drafts, syncing connectors, and serving your page.

5. AI-generated suggestions and approvals

OpenSelf uses AI systems to generate suggestions, structure facts, draft copy, and propose updates. AI output may be incomplete, inaccurate, or contextually wrong.

You are responsible for reviewing what you publish or keep in your account. OpenSelf aims to make visibility and approvals explicit, but you should still use judgment before relying on generated output publicly or professionally.

6. Connectors and third-party services

If you connect third-party services, you represent that you are authorized to do so and that you have the rights needed for OpenSelf to access and process that data on your behalf.

Your use of those third-party services remains subject to their own terms and privacy policies. OpenSelf is not responsible for their availability, policies, or changes.

7. Acceptable use

You may not use OpenSelf to break the law, violate others' rights, distribute malware, interfere with the service, scrape or abuse the platform, attempt unauthorized access, or publish content that you do not have the right to use.

You may not use the hosted service to build deceptive identities, impersonate others, evade security measures, or generate spam, harassment, or harmful content.

8. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal data in the hosted service. By using OpenSelf, you also acknowledge that policy.

9. Open-source license and hosted service

The OpenSelf source code is available under the AGPL-3.0 license. That open-source license applies to the codebase and self-hosted use as described in the repository.

These Terms of Service govern the hosted service at openself.dev. Access to the hosted service may include operational limits, moderation, and commercial terms that are separate from the rights granted by the AGPL-3.0 license.

10. Availability, disclaimers, and liability

OpenSelf works to provide a reliable service, but the hosted product is provided on an "as available" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, permanent feature continuity, or error-free AI output.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, OpenSelf is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising from your use of the hosted service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

11. Suspension, termination, and updates

You may stop using OpenSelf at any time. We may suspend, limit, or terminate access if needed to protect the service, comply with law, address abuse, or enforce these terms.

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Continued use of the hosted service after an update means you accept the revised terms.
